Dr. Okezie Emmanuel

Okezie Emmanuel is a Ph.D. candidate in Biotechnology in the Department of Animal Sciences at The Ohio State University, where he works as a Graduate Fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Thaddeus (Teddy) Ezeji at OARDC, Wooster, Ohio. His doctoral research focuses on process and metabolic engineering strategies to convert wastes from agro-based industries into fuels and chemicals — including biobutanol, biohydrogen, and biodiesel — using solventogenic Clostridium species and genetically engineered microbial cell factories. Before joining OSU, he served as Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry at Abia State University, Uturu, Nigeria, where he taught biotechnology, enzymology, and nutritional biochemistry while leading phytochemical and toxicological research on Nigerian medicinal plants. He holds an M.Sc. in Nutrition and Food Science from the University of Reading, UK (Commonwealth Scholar), and a B.Sc. (First Class Honours) in Biochemistry from Abia State University. He has published extensively in renewable energy, sustainable chemistry, and ethnobotanical pharmacology, and presents regularly at international conferences including ASM Microbe.
